Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)
AVID's Mission: AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.
AVID is a rigorous elective course taken throughout the duration of high school which will set students on a college preparatory pathway. AVID helps students become organized, more successful in academic classes, provides tutoring in all subjects, and assists with the college application process including seeking financial aid and scholarships.

ASKATE ANTELOPE VALLEY
ASkate Antelope Valley is back this November after a couple years hiatus due to the pandemic. If you have never heard of the ASkate Foundation, they provide skateboarding clinics to individuals with autism. www.askate.org Askate Foundation is an organization that allows children with autism to be a part of our social world through skateboarding. We hold clinics for children with autism at no cost to the families, give grants to children with autism for skateboard gear, as well as promote awareness and educate families about the skateboard industry.
This year's event will take place on Sunday, November 6 from 10am-1pm at Marie Kerr Park. We need volunteers!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Skate Volunteers: You will be guiding, assisting, making sure the kids have fun and are safe on the board! Some children are Non-Verbal, so patience is key! Some Children will be afraid, again... patience and compassion is very important! The goal is to show these children an amazing time for 1 hour- Remember, their parents are watching and this is just as exciting and important to them, as it is the children!
