Answers
- Will there be a 9th grade student orientation before the 2023-24 semester starts?
- No, but students will participate in Summer Bridge activities during summer school.
- Does SOAR offer prom or sports?
- We do have prom every year. We do not offer sports at SOAR and students cannot play for other high schools while attending SOAR. Students can participate in club sports within the community so long as it doesn't interfere with their college and high school schedule.
- What does "First generation college-going youth," mean?
- First generation means the student's mother and father did not graduate from college with a bachelors degree or higher.
- How many parents can come to the parent meeting and should students come?
- Both students and parents are expected to attend the mandatory parent information meeting. We'll go over many expectations regarding our program so you can decide if SOAR High School is the right program for your student and family.
- What are the class schedules at AVC? What are the subjects you can take at AVC? What activities can students participate in?
- Please attend the mandatory parent information meeting. These questions are discussed in detail at that time.
