Kyana Bell graduated from SOAR in 2014 after earning her associate’s degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. She attended Colorado College and majored in Sociology, with a minor in Anthropology and Urban Sciences. She now applies her knowledge at the Butler Institute for Families, which focuses on implementing sustainable change in child- and family-serving systems in areas such as the child welfare workforce, early childhood, behavioral health, and tribal welfare. Within the next three years, she hopes to pursue a master’s degree in Social Work or Research Methods and Statistics. Go, Stars!
Elizabeth Mather graduated in 2015. Upon completion of her associate’s degree and graduation from AVC in 2016, she enlisted into the US Air Force. She’s been stationed in Okinawa, Japan for the last year and a half with hopes to stay in the military for the next 20 years. She is 20 credits away from getting her bachelor’s degree in logistics in order for her to retire and work as a civilian contractor for the government.
Brian Bauer is part of SOAR’s graduating class of 2015. During his time at SOAR he earned his associate’s degree at AVC in Liberal Arts and Sciences. Brian transferred to and recently graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. While at Cal Poly Pomona, he met a lot of new people by joining clubs and working in one of the student housing facilities. Brian is back in the Antelope Valley and actively looking for work as a video editor. We’re so proud…keep SOARing, Brian!
